Hexagon Quilt Handover

Numerous Ladies and a Gentleman ventured to Sew Creative today for the handover of many of the Quilts from The Worlds' Biggest Hexagon Quilt. Each quilt bound and labelled was searched by eager stitchers looking to find their own hexagons. Many cries of delight were found when they did!

Gail then revealed the challenge for next year. Sew Creative has notified their intention to participate in the Worldwide One Million Pillowcase Challenge. Gail's aim is to have 1000 pillowcases sewn by May 2011.

A quick tutorial for making Hotdog/Burrito pillowcases can be found in the attached link. Try some prairie points, joined strips anything to use up some of your scraps. Once finished drop them into the shop sothat the girls can peg them on the line!

Michelle Yeo

Michelle is another of the tutors who will be at Gatton in May 2011. She has kindly lent Sew Creative two of her quilts and they are presently hanging in the shop. Both in reproduction type colours but the pink and yellow of the "Antique Lone Star" really jump. The Fussy cutting of the pieces within the "Victorian Lace" applique quilt give it another dimension.

Michelle will be teaching her "Sarah's Wreath" quilt next year. This can be a hand or machine pieced project.

Sue Daley

On Monday the 19th July visitors to Sew Creative were treated to two large suitcases of Display Quilts from Sue Daley of Patchwork with BusyFingers, Eumundi. Sue was on her way home from the Warwick Jumpers and Jazz Festival.
She entertained us with stories from her past thirty years of Patchworking, and her travels overseas. But she thrilled us with her trunk show of quilts that she displayed for all of us to see. Lovely embroideries, fine needle turn applique and those teeny tiny 1/4" hexagons!
Many of the shop visitors took home paper pieces to start their own journey with Paper Piecing quilts.
Sue didn't have her Antique Sampler with her at the time, but has since shared it via email with us.
This is the sample for a 2 day class that she will be teaching at Gatton in May 2011.

Christine Cohrs

On Saturday 17th July a large gathering of "Lavender Ladies of Applique" journeyed to Sew Creative, Gatton for the Inaugural Chapter of "The Applique Society".
Christine Cohrs entertained everyone with a short talk about her journey through Patchwork and Quilting. Her talk was interspersed with numerous displays of her quilts pulled from a LARGE suitcase. Many of theses quilts were hand quilted drawing much praise from those present.
Christine concluded her display with "My Love of 1930"s Prints".
The ladies present also were happy to share their own show and tell. Each participant also received an invite to exhibit their quilts as part of "The Applique Society" exhibit at the Gatton in May 2011 show.
